The Full Story

How we started

Second Stage Housing began as a response to growing homelessness in Meadow Lake. A group of concerned citizens took action, forming the Meadow Lake Homeplate Coalition Corp. to provide housing to those experiencing homelessness.

As an umbrella organization, Homeplate established both an emergency shelter and Second Stage Housing in Meadow Lake. While the shelter offers immediate relief, Second Stage Housing provides long-term stability, helping individuals transition from homelessness to independent living through safe housing and support programs.

What started as a grassroots effort is now a vital community resource, offering hope and stability to those in need.

Who we are

Second Stage Housing is a program that supports the unhoused with those facing addictions caused by trauma of all ages (over 18) by offering housing, guidance, counseling, recreational activities, land-based learning, help with obtaining government credentials, and community service support to facilitate their transition to independent living.

Vision

Empowering individuals to break the cycle of homelessness by providing stable housing, personalized support, and the tools needed for long-term independence.

We envision a future where every participant:

✔ Transitions successfully to permanent and independent living.
✔ Builds resilience through education, employment, and life skills.
✔ Becomes a supportive member of the community with a testimony that fosters growth and recovery.

Our goal is to create lasting change, not just temporary relief, ensuring individuals have the foundation to rebuild their lives with confidence and dignity.
